Blue Octopus is committed to protecting the privacy of our clients and candidates in order to uphold the integrity of our business.
Candidates submitting their details to our site via the registration process can be assured that we require this information solely to aid the recruitment process and to screen and improve our service provision. By registering as a candidate with Blue Octopus you are consenting to us collecting and disclosing your details to potential employers for the purpose of the recruitment process. All personal data (name, contact details and employment history) will be collated and stored on secure servers for a period of six months at which time you will be asked if you would like to re-register with Blue Octopus. If you do not agree, your account will then be archived along with data completed regarding application forms for specific vacancies.
Candidates are able to access and view all information Blue Octopus hold on them and this can be updated at any time by them. Please be aware that any roles candidates do apply for will be confidential between them, Blue Octopus and the company recruiting for the role.
Blue Octopus will make every effort to comply with our obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998.
Data Protection Act 1998
The information that you provide us with for the recruitment process is termed "personal data" under the Data Protection Act 1998. Blue Octopus follow the principles set out in that Act when we process and collate your personal data. All personal data that we obtain from you is held on our secure database and is archived regularly.
Contacting you
Much of the correspondence between a candidate and Blue Octopus will be via email, if a candidate is selected for interview they will be contacted by telephone in the first instance and will then be notified by email if they do not respond on the telephone; the same will apply if Blue Octopus need to reject a candidate due to unsuitability following an interview. Decisions following interviews will be passed on by Blue Octopus or the company recruiting for the role depending on the circumstances.
Blue Octopus offers a vacancy match service to candidates (we will contact candidates via email to update them on vacancies which Blue Octopus are advertising based on their vacancy preferences); this is optional and candidates can withdraw from this service at any time by signing into their online profile.
Privacy Policy Changes
Blue Octopus reserve the right to amend the Privacy Policy at any time; if Blue Octopus do amend the Privacy Policy the updated version will be posted here on the website.
Website
Blue Octopus cannot make any assurance that a client or recruiting company will offer an interview and / or eventual job offer to any candidates; this is at the client or recruiting company’s discretion based on circumstances and suitability for the role. Blue Octopus cannot guarantee that the data provided to a client or recruiting company will be kept confidential by the client or recruiting company.
If employment is gained through Blue Octopus with a client or recruiting company; Blue Octopus cannot negotiate terms and duration of employment, this must be handled directly between the candidate and client.
Blue Octopus will not track your movement within the site; we only collect information on the number of visitors to the site and not the pages they visited.
The Blue Octopus website may, on occasion, contain links to and from third party websites. Blue Octopus would like to make it clear that if visitors to our site follow these links, these websites have their own privacy policies and terms and conditions and Blue Octopus cannot accept any liability for these policies. Blue Octopus recommends that you thoroughly check through these privacy policies before submitting any data.
In every case, Blue Octopus will strive to ensure that the information and data included on the website is accurate, however, the information provided is purely for guidance purposes and visitors to the site should seek guidance and make enquiries regarding the information before relying upon it.
Cookies
"Cookies" are small amounts of information that are stored on your computer / device by websites. Blue Octopus only uses its own "Cookies" and for the sole purpose of authentication.
Although some websites store cookie information beyond your visit to their site, here at Blue Octopus we don't. Our cookies are stored only during your 'session' (authenticated visit to our website) and then discarded.
