On Saturday 2 June, eleven of our wonderful Service team will be getting just a little bit muddy to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Under the name ‘We Run This Mother’, the team will be doing battle with the Leeds Pretty Muddy 5k Race for Life. It’s unlike any other fundraising event, and will see the Blue Octopus ladies climb over, crawl under and charge through a muddy (yup, who’d have thunk it?) obstacle course.

Cancer Research UK is a cause that’s close to many of our hearts here at Blue Octopus, so this is an extremely important event for us. To show you just how important, some of the team have shared their stories:

Kelly Laurenson, Operations Director

“Too many of my friends and family have been hit with this horrible disease. Raising money to go towards further research into a cure has to be worth getting muddy for!”

Ashleigh Boocock, Key Account / Resourcing Administrator

“When I was 10-years-old, I unfortunately lost my mum to breast cancer – she was just 35. And then, in the past year, I’ve also been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I’ve seen first-hand what Cancer Research UK has done to help both myself and my family over the years in the battle against this horrible disease. I’m hoping to raise as much money as possible to give back and say thank you.”

Steph Long, Client Delivery Team Leader

“I’ll be taking part in memory of my lovely dad, who we lost suddenly at the end of last year after a short battle with late stage cancer. Sadly, more and more people are affected by cancer every day, and fundraising is key to preventing families from going through what we unfortunately have.”

We’re immensely proud of every single member of the team taking part. It’s a cracking cause. If you’d like to donate, please visit https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/team/we-run-this-mother – every penny counts in the race to beat cancer’s butt!
