Candidate FAQ’s

If you’re using the Blue Octopus service as a candidate, the following FAQs should answer most of your questions. If we missed something give us a call on 01943 461 327.

  • How can I register my details with you?

    Registering with Blue Octopus is a simple process that only takes a couple of minutes. If you’d like to register with us, please click on the following link: candidate sign in page

    You’ll be asked to complete a short form which includes your personal details such as your name, address etc. You’ll also be asked to select the job categories you’d be interested in working in and the location(s) you’d be willing to travel to.

  • I don’t have a CV, can I still apply?

    Most roles do require a CV to go along with a completed application form. For hints and tips on how to put together the perfect CV, please visit our CV guide page.

  • How do I know my application has been received?

    Once you have applied for a role, you’ll be sent an acknowledgement email to the address you have provided on your application. If you have not received this email, you can contact us via and a member of our team will be more than happy to confirm receipt.

  • When will I receive an outcome on my application?

    Each role we advertise has an expiry date and you can find this at the top of the job advertisement. Normally our clients will wait until the closing date has passed before finalising the shortlist but as soon as this information is released to us, we’ll most certainly be in touch with you.

    Until the shortlist is finalised, Blue Octopus will keep you updated via email on the status of your application. Unless you hear otherwise, please be assured that your application is still being reviewed and considered for the role.

  • I have seen a vacancy on your website which I am interested in applying for but the salary information isn’t included in the advert. How can I find this out?

    All vacancy details are determined by the client and it is at their discretion whether to disclose the details of the salary. If you have seen a role with the salary advertised as ‘Competitive’ then this is a direct request by the client and the salary details will only be discussed at interview stage.

  • Is there any more information other than the job advertisement that you can provide me with to help me with my application?

    We’ll always do our best to provide as much information as we can in order to assist you with your application. Should we have any additional information such as a job description or person specification, this can be found in the form of a .PDF and will be located above the job advertisement.

  • I’d like to apply for a vacancy. Is there an email address to which I can send my CV to?

    All of our roles require an online application form to be submitted if you wish to be considered. To do this, simply search our vacancies for the desired role and click the apply button.

    Most application forms can be completed in a matter of minutes and you’ll also be asked to upload your CV.

    It’s a simple process however if you do require additional guidance, please don’t hesitate to get in touch – a member of the Blue Octopus Team will be more than happy to help you!

  • I live overseas and would like to apply for a role. The application form will not accept my telephone number and postcode. Please help!

    At present, our UK system does not accept addresses and telephone numbers from outside of the UK. If you’d like to apply for a role, you can use the Blue Octopus Head Office details which can be found on our contact page.

    If you do this, please ensure your CV contains your correct details so we can contact you when we have an outcome on your application.
