Team Leader - Health & Social Care, Sport, Public Services & Policing

The School of Commercial Industries and Access at Kingston College are seeking a Team Leader – someone to be responsible for curriculum standards and outcomes for programmes specifically in the Health & Active Living section. The teaching commitment will be in the curriculum area of FE Health & Social Care, Sport or Public Services/Policing.

You will ensure that current and future students receive a first-class experience that enables them to progress and attain their qualifications at high levels and develop long-lasting learning and employability skills. You will ensure that programmes meet the needs, standards and requirements of all partners, including, for example, awarding bodies, employers and higher education institutions. This includes the writing and monitoring of self-assessment documentation and the coordination and attendance of self-assessment and validation meetings.

As a Team Leader, we ask that you hold a degree or relevant professional qualifications in Health & Social Care, Sport or Public Services/Policing and have excellent teaching skills in one of these areas, recognised as a good or better teacher. Hardworking and flexible, you will have experience of leading/managing FE & HE programmes and have a strong vision for the improvement and development of the curriculum area.

We would like you to have current knowledge of impending curriculum changes (HE & FE) and the implications for teaching and learning strategies. You should have a thorough understanding of quality assurance and improvement processes and how these can be used to enhance the student experience. Experience of managing, supporting and developing staff is desirable, but not essential.

Subject to a cost of living review from 1 August, the successful candidate will be eligible for any subsequent increase in salary.

Closing date for the return of completed applications is 9th May 2024

The benefits package includes generous annual leave of 37 days plus up to 8 additional days over Christmas/New Year as well as an additional 5 days Wellbeing leave to enhance employees’ physical and mental health. There is an excellent pension scheme that receives a significant financial contribution from the employer (Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme), subsidised sports facilities and professional development and training plus a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme.

As outlined in the Public Sector Equality Duty of the Equality Act 2010, we are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.

As part of our due diligence checks on prospective employees, successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, an online search and proof of eligibility to work in the UK.

The South Thames Colleges Group is made up of Carshalton College, Kingston College, Merton College and South Thames College, which merged on 1 August 2017. We aim to put students’ success at the heart of everything we do.

We are looking for hard-working and collaborative people who can join our team and help challenge our students to progress and achieve.
