Blue Octopus Recruitment would like to share our successful partnership with Mind, the leading mental health charity in England and Wales. Founded in 1946, it celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2021. Mind provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. As we are living in a mental health emergency, Mind’s services were in high demand last Christmas.

After speaking with James Glover, Head of HR at Mind, we got an insight into exactly how they managed to continue with their hiring as normal through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Identified needs and challenges for Mind

After meeting with James, we soon identified that filtering through volumes of data and creating an ever-growing paper trail was a nightmare.

The solution was to implement our Octo recruitment software system.

During the Covid-19 lockdown, the speed at which documents could be accessed from Mind employees working from home and mobile devices was crucial.

Mind also had to swiftly recruit for their Mentally Healthy Universities programme, which supports students and universities to ensure better mental health.  Having Octo software helped Mind to recruit quickly, while  continuing to  deliver their vital services on time.

Enhanced communication times

This enabled Mind to have a quick response time and by keeping all channels of communication up to date, it allowed everyone in the loop from internal employees to recruiters and candidates up to date information.

Mind employees were able to use Octo’s innovative tools to customise their recruitment searches, identifying exactly the type of candidate they required with minimal effort.
